A former Apple employee has been accused of stealing trade secrets. These include information about the company’s research into self-driving car development.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California revealed on Tuesday that Weibao Wang was indicted by federal grand juries. The investigation began in 2018 even though the case only became public on Tuesday. Wang, according to the allegations began working at Apple as a software developer in Mar. 2016. In November 2017, two years after signing the employment contract, he was hired by another company that also developed self-driving vehicles.
Wang did not inform Apple about his new job, or to resign, for four month, and left only in April 2018. After a review of Wang’s past activities on Apple’s system, it was determined that he had accessed a “large amount of sensitive proprietary and secret information” in the days following his departure.
Apple Music now offers official concert setlists.
In June, the California home of Wang was searched. Apple data was found in 2018, but Wang left immediately afterward.
