As the heat begins to break, the trees change into their autumnal finest, and we’re looking to swap our best beach reads for a new book to usher in the season. And have we got fabulous news for bedside tables everywhere: there’s an embarrassment of riches in the realm of books coming out this fall, and you’ll want to add them to the top of your TBR (To Be Read) pile. You’ll see some familiar names on our list — check out new titles by George Saunders and Barbara Kingsolver!— as well as some amazing debut authors who we guarantee will quickly become new favorites.

Some of these fall reads come out in August, that in-between time when summer’s shadow has lengthened, but it’s not sweater weather just yet. Others hit shelves just in time to serve as stocking stuffers (our apologies if you can’t even think that far ahead).
